Ever been in the mood for flavourful Japanese cuisine? Well, Koi Express would be the perfect place to go. Located in Vacaville near Chipotle and Noah’s NYC Bagels, Koi Express is a hibachi and sushi restaurant where you can dine in or carry out with a big menu to pick from and isn’t very pricey. Though you can dine in the restaurant is pretty small and only has a couple of tables.
The menu has a wide variety to choose from: for some starters, they have crab rangoon, spring rolls, and miso soup. For entrees, they have hibachi plates which come with rice and a side of vegetables and you can choose between chicken, steak, or shrimp with the option to mix them or you can get the deluxe plate that comes with the choice of lobster or scallops. They also have noodles with your choice of meat or vegetables, and the most popular thing on their menu is their sushi. They have more than 20 different options for sushi. Some are California rolls, Philadelphia rolls, and different types of sashimi.
I didn’t dine in, but I ended up ordering the hibachi chicken plate and a side of chicken dumplings. The total was $15 which is a fairly good price for a meal with portions that were very generous and a side. It took about 10-13 minutes. The food was very flavorful, and you’ll probably be full even if you just end up ordering one thing.
Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try something new. I would definitely eat here again, and I would rate it an 8.5 out of 10 because the food was great, but I feel like there should be more space to dine in since there were only three tables. So, if you did want to dine in there would probably be a wait. Other than that this is a really good restaurant from food and price range.
