It is officially soccer season here at Armijo! One of the players part of this year’s 2023-2024 soccer experience is Paris Padilla. She is 15 and has made the varsity squad as a freshman. Padilla represents number 24 and plays as defender. Paris has been playing soccer for three years now and her favorite part about the sport is the adrenaline she gets from being on the field. Padilla states that one of the reasons she started soccer was because of her dad and brothers love for the sport, with lead to falling in love herself. Padilla now continues soccer because of the love she has for the sport, she explains that it is almost a relief to be on the field but can be intimidating. Soccer has given Padilla many things like friendships, and amazing memories that she cherishes.
She says that she sees soccer in her future and if she is able to desires to continue to improve she hopes to be playing in college. When Padilla is on the field she thinks of various different strategies at a time. She is constantly thinking about how she is going to stop the other team from making a goal. She shares her strategy: she tries to think from their point of view, and what would they do to make it so that she could defend her goal. Soccer has taught Padilla many different life values and lessons. From soccer she has learned to take more risks because you could never know what might happen. She has learned how to be a team player, be a multi-tasker, and be confident in yourself no matter what.
