It’s that time of the year again! Armijo High School is hosting their annual Deck the halls on December 15, 2023! It’s an community open event where students and staff help give our community Christmas Joy! There was an assortment of activities, snacks, drinks, and even Santa.
I had the pleasure of working along-side Armijo’s National Honors Society. The set up for the event started immediately after the school day ended, around 3:30. Prior to the event, National Honors Society had agreed on a budget and theme for their hall. The hall was set up by student volunteers and I talked to two students in the club.
“The event was a great way to get CAS Hours” said Lucy Herston.
“This is the second event I’ve set up with NHS and it’s not really hectic. Usually they assign jobs and you just have to hand our stuff or help kids do the activities” said Jocelyn Saenz.
The activities at Deck The Halls ranged from writing santa letters in C-Hall to making slime in A-Hall. I helped run the ornament building stations with Jocelyn Saenz and Lucy Herston. We help children pick out what ornaments they would like to decorate and helped tied string to each ornament.
During the event, I saw our community get the chance to share holiday joy. People laughed and played different games with one another. I can see why Armijo hosts Deck The Halls each year. It shows how close our community is with each other and how no matter what we are doing, it’s the company that matters.
