Fairfield PAL boxer, 17-year-old Brandon Angulo, became a champion Friday night with his win at the USA Boxing / Community Youth Center’s Rooftop Rumble at the Sutter Club in Sacramento.
It was a tough match and Brandon had to establish himself early against the taller fighter. Brandon led in each of the 3 rounds, his strong work ethic and skill on display as he changed up to address the height advantage of his opponent.
In the blue corner, Brandon accepted his belt, thanked his coach and headed back to the gym to continue his training—noting that he is looking forward to his next fight.

Together with Coach Anthony Marquez, they believe that boxing is uniquely positioned to help students not only get and stay in shape, but improve decision making, learn to anticipate consequences, manage stress, and handle strong emotional responses. Both were not surprised by Brandon’s success, “Brandon puts in the time and the work. He is dedicated. He has a lot of nature talent—but he put in the effort to get better every day.”
