In this interview, Kayleigh tells us about her days working under the title of a library assistant.
For Kayleigh, it was suitable for her to consider choosing to become a library assistant. Her main reason was that she liked the endless school opportunities that are provided to the students at Armijo. Another was how she wanted to be able to give back as a student herself. Kayleigh currently works two days a week in one-hour sessions, which still gives her free time to spend however she needs. She loves the freedom it provides so she can get caught up with school work all while assisting other students at the same time. Luckily, she has never encountered any issues or problems in this workplace.
Although Kayleigh wouldn’t consider this to be a career for her, she feels that other people who enjoy literature, reading, and assisting others could make this position a good addition to their resumes in the future. “Be outgoing and focused, as well as quiet and on task,” Kayleigh says about the skills needed for this position. Although, you must also know how to be able to assist others without interrupting other students within the library. Working on having a lower tone would be essential. A few good things Kayleigh has achieved being a library assistant include increasing her own reading skills, as well as gaining more patience in the workplace.
Kayleigh finds it to be a lot of fun since she would be able to work with other students and teachers, but a bit challenging due to having to run programs that she is unfamiliar with. One of the main reasons for her volunteering is to have volunteer hours for college but also to simply help the community. She is proud of the fact that she is able to work quickly and efficiently and get all her tasks done to the best ability.
