Halloween is amazing. A lot of people celebrate it and love it, but where does it come from? Halloween originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. This festival was when people would light up bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Crazy right? I personally didn’t know that until I read it.
Halloween is a great time for friends, family, etc. to bond. A lot of kids love it because they get to go to each house and ask for candy. All the scares going to each and every house are all so fun and that is why people enjoy it so much.
Especially for costumes, I love Halloween for this purpose. I feel like it brings back the little me and warms my little kid self back up again and I know for everyone else too. The meaning behind the costumes started from bonfires to ward off ghosts. The article states that “those who observed believed that the door between the mortal world and the spirit world was thinnest, meaning the realm of the living was accessible to those who are dead” or, in other words, they would dress up to just scare away dead ones.
Other than people liking it and being somewhat creepy with the costumes, there are also people who hate it even though many more people don’t see Halloween as bad. There are some who think Halloween is dumb or even devilish because as I heard people say “Halloween is for the devil and that should not be celebrated”.
Another bad side of Halloween is how dangerous it could be. People on this day usually drive around more than usual because some people drive and trick or treat instead of walking. This is a big danger to many people and is definitely a higher chance of getting run over, kidnapped, etc. BUT always remember, though, to have fun and be safe. Happy Halloween!
