Today, I was able to interview Ashraf, who is a member of the leadership team here at Armijo High School. He told me that he joined leadership because his friends heavily influenced him to join it. Ashraf says that leadership is very fun to be a part of. But on the flip side, it can be very tiring due to long after school hours with fellow students, intensely needed time management skills, and not including setting up after school events. Nonetheless, he highly recommends joining leadership because he describes it as a “fun and new experience” and the more people there are the better the productivity and the faster the projects will be done. Leadership is also a good way to meet new people and get creative ideas from classmates. He is “glad he joined leadership because he took advantage of the fact that he won’t have to take as many classes in his senior year'” .
Ashraf did not mention the impact it has made on his life, but he does give a flash back to his first experience taking leadership, saying it was “partially awkward due to only knowing a few people but quickly warmed up to the rest of the class’ ‘. Ashraf thinks that if he didn’t join the leadership team, he would have more free time, but he says “having more free time would not have been as exciting”.
What inspired him to join leadership was his good friend Manny, who showed him the ropes and got him into one of his favorite classes.
