Pink Floyd’s album has sold around 45 million
CD Review – Dark Side of the Moon
The CD The Dark Side of the Moon by the rock band Pink Floyd was released on March 1, 1973. This was the eighth album released by the band, which included their lead guitarist Syd Barrett, bassist Roger Waters, drummer Nick Mason, keyboard player Rick Wright, and guitarist David Gilmour.
This album consists of a lot of guitar and just chill music. You can hear the rhythm of the waves and the guitar with light picks of the bass. Then the drummer lightly hits the cymbal, and you feel at ease. The first songs of the album have little to no lyrics, only the playing of the instruments. Some of the songs in the album even include other genres of music, such as “On the Run,” a song that has a lot of techno music involved and more drums then guitar.
The beginning of the album is slow and builds up. Then the middle is more hard core and party music as it gets louder. The end feels like the end of a song. Some of the songs are very recognizable, like Breath, which is used as a sample in lots of other songs. The Great Gig In the Sky recently picked up a lot of popularity as it became known on TikTok, 50 years after the album was released.
My favorite song in this album is Breath. It’s just very relaxing and enjoyable to listen to. If I was just in my room, I would play this song and just breathe.
I would recommend this album to anyone who just wants to relax and listen to a great album as they chill in their room. You can hear the entire album here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQqK1klCizU.
