FSUSD Hosts English Proficiency Ceremony

Gaining proficiency in any language is no small feat. Congratulations to these students!

Fairfield, CA – On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) held a ceremony at Willow Hall to celebrate students who have achieved English language proficiency and successfully exited the English Learner Program during this school year. The event was attended by proud parents, school staff, and community members.

The ceremony was a recognition of the students’ hard work and dedication towards developing their English fluency. Achieving English language proficiency is a significant milestone in the academic and personal growth of the students and the FSUSD community was thrilled to honor them for their multilingual achievement.

This year, the event was split into two ceremonies to accommodate the large number of students who achieved English language proficiency. In total, 376 students from schools across the district were celebrated at the event. During the ceremony, students in attendance were recognized for their remarkable achievements and received certificates of recognition for their accomplishment.

“Speaking multiple languages not only benefits individuals but also enriches the community by connecting others linguistically and culturally,” said Christine Harrison, Assistant Director of English Learners and Instructional Support. “We are incredibly proud of these students and know they will continue to achieve great things.”
