Appreciate your sense of smell!
April 29 – National Sense of Smell Day
Breathe deep. What do you smell? Even on Armijo’s campus, we find that our sense of smell is developed with a variety of scents. Some are disgusting, like the smells from the restrooms, the locker room or musty classrooms. Others are not as bad, like the aroma of pizza from the cafeteria or the reassuring smell of the hand sanitizer.
While we won’t be on campus for National Sense of Smell Day, it is a great time to celebrate.
National Sense of Smell Day takes place on the last Saturday of April. This year, that is April 29. It is a great time to get out and explore and to smell different things. Maybe your nose can lead to a conversation about a specific flower, or a fresh perfume, or even a delicious aroma at a new restaurant.
Why not make this a chance to smell something you haven’t ever smelled before. Walk into a new location and breathe deep. You might have a positive experience, but you might also be able to recognize a harmful substances in your environment and perhaps improve your health by avoiding that substance over the long term.
I was born in California on July 29.
I spend my free time hanging out with my friends, eating, and sleeping. I also love watching shows and scary movies...
