Top-seeded Raiders outscore Royals
0 – 4 Loss
This was a hard defeat for Armijo, but there were a lot of positives to this game. First, the Rio Americano Raiders are the top seed in our Division with an 18-1 record (even better then Vaca, winner in our league) while the Royals were 16th seed with a second place finish in our own league and much worse record.
The Royals held them off 0-0 for the entire first half (40 minutes) and had better possession and better shots on goal.
Armijo rallied strong for the second half and held them off for the first 20 minutes. Unfortunately, with a minor mistake, the Raiders saw there first goal against the Royals and picked up and pressed to get three more goals in quick succession.
No matter the result, Coach Flores is incredibly proud of all the boys this season: her Junior Varsity (JV) players, seniors, new transfers, starters and all the athletes and managers who make Armijo’s program such a joy to coach. Every single one of these boys worked their butt of this year to get to play-offs and Coach Flores is looking forward to seeing what they all accomplish in the years to come.
