Restaurant Review – Ike’s Love and Sandwiches

Dalila Rodriguez

There is lots to look at while you wait for your handcrafted sandwich to be created.

My family and I went to Ike’s Love and Sandwiches, located in Vacaville at 501 Davis St Suite D. When we first went to the shop there was only one other customer. This made me a little skeptical, but I still placed my order. I ordered a ham sandwich on Dutch crunch bread, with dirty sauce, lettuce, and cheese. The worker had recommended the Dutch bread saying that it’s their most popular choice. I also got one of their chocolate chip macadamia cookies.

The workers were very nice and understanding when I couldn’t read the board. While they made my sandwich, my sister and I looked around the shop. They had a bunch of different lunch boxes around. Some were vintage and others were newer. The place was colorful and homey with all the decorations.

KFC was not happy with Ike’s chosen slogan.

Something that was unique about the shop is that they had the words “Finger-lickin’ good” crossed out and a letter from the headquarter of KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) next to it. The letter stated that KFC would take legal action against them if this slogan wasn’t removed. I think it was funny to see them next to each other like a comeback to KFC.

My sandwich was ready in less than 10 minutes. I didn’t expect it to be that great because it was a sandwich, but it was delicious! The bread was nice and toasty and the sandwich had a balance of everything. The cookie wasn’t too sweet and was pretty good as it was healthier than a normal cookie.

My parents tried my sandwich and loved it as well. Afterwards, I had to go back and get another sandwich because it was so good. I would give this sandwich spot a 10/10. Their customer service was great; the place was comfortable and fun to be in; and the sandwiches were delicious.
