Love Story, a romance film directed by Arthur Hiller, premiered on December 16, 1970. The ´runaway international hit´ starred Ali MacGraw as Jennifer, and Ryan O´Neal as Oliver.

The movie was a great success to both of their careers since they won multiple awards for the film, which was told in third person point of view.

While watching this successful hit, I experienced some intense tension because I felt the connection between the two main characters from the start. The two first meet in the library and have a spark then and there. I would kind of consider this to be in the trope of Enemies to Lovers.

Unfortunately I did not relate with any of the characters. Oliver was a sweet guy but people saw him as preppy, which is the total opposite of me. As for Jennifer, she spoke her mind and was outgoing.

My least favorite character was Jennifer’s dad, Phil (played by John Marley). He was very intimidating and I didn´t really like how he approached Oliver at first. On the other hand, my favorite character was Oliver. He was really down to earth for Jennifer, and you can tell he was really in love with her.

At first I didn’t like how the story felt a bit rushed in the beginning but then it got overly slow towards the end. I would recommend this movie because it was overall a great story but there were no messages in this story. My overall rate would be a 6/10.
