Fashion is the best sport!
When Spirit Week started on September 26 with a sports theme, many students wondered how to support their favorite teams while being fashionable. There are several ways, of course. Some students chose to support a favorite team by matching the team colors, while others focused on wearing jerseys, merch, and much more! Eventually, most people recognize that dressing to support a team can be done in one of two ways: Sporty Casual and Sporty Chic
What is Sporty Casual?
According to casualpower.com, Sporty Casual is “anytime you are wearing a sneaker-type shoe with jeans, khakis, walking shorts, skirts, etc.” Pair it with a sports jersey and take it up a notch, or just go for the look with subtle hints like name brand shoes or clothing that is influenced by athletes.
If you want to keep your support on the down low, you could wear a more relaxed fit, of course with your team colors. Wesley Verador, a basketball player and enthusiast at Armijo, roots for the Golden State Warriors whose team colors are gold and blue. Although he does not wear those colors year round, he wears his Jordans to show his love for the basketball greats. Verador said, ”I got these shoes from Flightclub.” Flightclub, a website to buy shoes, provides reasonable prices for the quality shoes you want. This website features Nike, Jordans, and basically any shoe brand that is popular. Verador shows that you don’t have to go all out to show your support, but instead, you can be more laid back.
What is Sporty Chic?
Based on fashionrogue.com, Sporty Chic is “a laid-back street style that brings sporty elements and urban aesthetics together in one outfit. The result is a cool, contemporary, and classy look that seems effortless yet put together.” For street styles, baggy clothing works extremely well. Old 90s clothing from Nike or clothes from the local thrift store are really what makes the sportiness and streetwear mix. But if you really want it to show your athletic side, top it off with team colors and names of famous players, contemporary or classic. Show your team pride and find out who your competition is.
