Funky music from back in the day
CD Review – The Pet Shop Boys “Hotspot”
The Pet Shop Boys is an old school band that is a reflection of the funky 80’s.
This pop-duo was formed in 1981 a dynamic duo that consists of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe. This album has songs ranging from sad, moody romance to funky tunes and beats. You can listen to this album when you’re in any mood as it changes its different tones to show the different music people might be interested in listening to.
This album has a concept of being happy and having fun, while also having that moody romance feel to the songs. The songs have sounds of robotic and keyboard tones that make it feel like old school music as it showcases the 80’s.
These songs all have electronic disco tones, but the lyrics are different from the beat. The songs have more depressive lyrics, such as the song “I Don’t Wanna.” The song says, “I don’t want to go dancing” and shows this attitude toward the tone of the song, but it makes this album unique with diversity.
The 80’s is known for its funky, disco, futuristic, and colorful music; this album definitely showcases those features. I would love to have this music in a skating rink and recommend it when feeling in a funky mood. You can listen to it yourself here: Pet Shop Boys Hotspot Full Album – YouTube.
