The sun has risen on their senior year

Class of 2023 gather together for a new day.

On Friday, September 9, seniors were up early to watch the sunrise with friends and teachers. “Coming to Senior Sunrise is cool because I can hang out with my friends and just enjoy it,” said Keimon Lewis.

The event featured music and photos in the photo booth as well as selfies and group photos. It was also a respite from the hot days as the temperatures were comfortable enough early in the morning to make blankets recommended, although most were used solely for sitting on the grass of the football field. “I’m ready to finish high school,” Emma’Lee Hawkins said. “I am going to miss my friends, though.”

Senior year can be challenging. It is exciting to think of finishing high school and graduating, but it can also be nerve-wracking. It means big changes and the senior year is the last time to make high school memories. Tori Johnson said, “I still can’t believe I’m a senior. It feels like just yesterday I was a freshman.”

Seeing all the seniors come together at Senior Sunrise was an awesome and beautiful sight and when the end of the year draws near, the Class of 2023 will have one more chance to gather together to share and create memories at the Senior Sunset.
