Authentic grub in Fairfield!

Restaurant review – El Pitayo

Mon S.

Asado and Chicharon tacos in homemade tortillas is a delicious treat at El Pitayo!

For some people, like Phoebe W. on Yelp, Fairfield is just a destination on the way home, but sometimes it takes the opinion of an outsider to make us see something that is good – or even great – in our own home town.

Passed this place (El Pitayo Mexican restaurant in Fairfield) many times and finally stopped in to order burritos to go after a long week at work. The house-made flour tortillas put these burritos on a level above every Mexican restaurant in this area. The shredded chicken was cooked with care, and the other ingredients inside were all fresh and delicious. The perfect ratio of beans to rice to chicken. Nice salsa to pour on it as you eat.

“I will probably ask them to put the salsa inside next time we order. Yes, there will be a next time – any time I crave a burrito, I am coming here. Even though I am not going to be remotely hungry now until tomorrow, I’m still thinking about that amazing, tender tortilla. I also really like the knowledge that I’m supporting a local, hardworking family and their restaurant.” (https://www.yelp.com/biz/el-pitayo-fairfield)

The restaurant, which is family owned and operated, is located at 2982 Rockville Road and is open most days from 10 am – 7 pm or later. It is closed on Sundays so plan your visit accordingly.
