Timing is everything on the waterfront
Restaurant review – Bab’s Delta Diner in Suisun
If you’ve lived in Solano County for long, you’ve probably visited Bab’s Delta Diner in Suisun. In December, Brenna Y shared her opinions on https://www.restaurantji.com. Do you agree with what she had to say?
Not just a must, but a mandatory stop if you’re in the area (even if you’re not, it’s worth a drive!). We were in town visiting family and got this recommended a few times and good golly we had no idea what we signed up for.
I heard they can rank up a hefty wait but we only waited about 15 minutes for our table outside. They also have indoor and counter seating. Service was friendly as expected in a small local diner like this. It felt homey and welcoming!
The first visit, my boyfriend got the Homemade Corn Beef Hash ($15.50) which was, in a word, incredible. Seasoned perfectly and rich in flavor, the hash was delightful and the poached eggs on top were so good! He got it with a side of the potatoes and I was pleased to see that they were scalloped- something different!! Really good with the green onions on top, too!
I got the Chad’s Special ($15) which has 1/2 ham, 1/2 sausage, two eggs, and choice of fried rice or potatoes. The sausage was so-so but the ham was just what I’d hoped it would be, and the eggs (scrambled) were cooked nicely, too, and not dried out.
We also added a side of fried rice ($6.75) because we just had to try it, and it was one of my favorite parts of the meal! We both went into serious food comas (naps were involved) after the first round, but as soon as we took our first bites we knew we’d be back the next day. And hopefully eat a little less than the first try LOL!
Ryan got Tyler’s Omelet ($13.50) which has ham and cheddar and a choice of side. They let him get half rice and half potatoes which I think is a great option if you want to try it all! I got the French toast ($9.65) and a side of ham ($8.50) and both were fantastic. The French toast totally fulfilled my craving and was light and fluffy. The side of ham was literally bigger than my head and I was in shock the entire time just looking at this small meat island just sitting on the table.
Overall, would absolutely come here again and recommend stopping by if possible. Prices are more than reasonable. Thank you Bab’s!
The restaurant has limited hours, so unless you’re willing to visit for a weekend you’ll need to wait to enjoy this treat at our next break (in mid-April), but if you haven’t tried it, you might want to consider the praise that Brenna shared and visit sometime soon.
