Winter wear is exploding with variety

Fashion Review: Holiday Accessories

Bundle up with all the fun fabrics and prints.

With winter approaching and the Bay Area getting colder and vacation starting, you might want to start getting warmer with popular outerwear.

Warmer accessories like mittens, furry boots, and leg warmers can be paired with skirts or dresses for a warmer outfit. They can be paired with oversized sweaters, plaid skirts, knit sweaters, or black sheer tights. Wearing collared shirts under sweaters and crewnecks can also add something to your outfit.

Long winter coats have been more visible since the start of fall. They are most popular in neutral colors like beige, brown, black, and gray.  Hats have also come back in style, to keep the head warm and ears toasty. Popular looks come in many different styles: hats with faux fur, denim hats, woven hats and bucket hats.

A bucket hat is an eye-catching piece that can have a calmer effect in a neutral color or a pop in a bold color.

Sometimes, it is more a matter of drawing attention to our face than providing warmth, however. One example of this is the use of scrunchies. This colorful hair accessory can be found in winter prints or coordinating looks. They are useful because they treat your hair better than normal tight hair ties and you could just wear them on your wrist to keep them handy.

Speaking of what’s on your wrist, you might consider wearing a charm bracelet and, with jewelry in mind, you might want to add Yin & Yang necklaces and lockets to your wardrobe or consider them as gifts for your closest friends.

If you’re trying to fit in with the modern look, the preppy style has definitely gained popularity. This look is very much inspired by TV shows like Gossip Girl. It includes dainty, feminine jewelry like small pearl necklaces and gold or silver rings.

Don’t forget to add a fun pop of color with candy-cane prints or maybe even add a pair of antlers to draw attention to your holiday spirit.
