Three years of tennis success so far
Athlete Focus – Jessica Dang, Singles Tennis
Jessica Dang chose to go into Tennis because “it’s one of my favorite sports to play and it is a great source of exercise,” she said. “I have been participating on the Girls’ Tennis Team for three years.”
Because she was interested in the sport and thought it would be fun, she didn’t wait around for someone else to introduce her to tennis. Instead, she went ahead and tried it out, just to satisfy her curiosity, but it’s been a crazy three years.
“COVID-19 has affected my junior season more than my senior season because we had to take a lot of precautions and our season was cut short,” she said. She got to play during her sophomore year because sports were not cancelled until the end of that year, but fall sports were played on a shortened schedule in the spring of her junior year.
Dang also participates in badminton. “I play this sport for the school as well,” she said. “I plan to continue to play tennis in college because it’s one of my favorite sports that I can’t let go. I hope to go to the University of California Davis.”
“My most memorable match would probably be the last match that I played because it was the last official match that I was able to play as a senior,” she said. “This match took place in Vacaville and I won my match.”
For those considering getting involved in sports, Dang suggests that they don’t hesitate. “You should definitely go for it because it might be your new favorite hobby and you get the opportunity to make new friends as well,” she said.
She’s also involved in Key Club and National Honor Society.
