Honor band works hard and learns lots
Solano County Honor Band has finally come to a close, and it was an amazing weekend experience. As one of the 1-2 musicians in the ensemble, I think I can speak for all of us that it was a tiring, but well worth it performance.
The 59th Solano County Honor Band performed a four-piece recital at the Vacaville Performing Arts Center on January 8. The show was almost sold out with the seats filling all up. The guest conductor, Dr. Patricia Cornett from C.S.U, worked with us for three long days to perfect our musical compositions. The music played this year was March, October, Old Home Days, and my personal favorite, Armenian Dances. All pieces were quite difficult to learn, and it included solos in both woodwind and brass instruments.
We received our music on January 4, and worked a total of 15 hours until we performed on January 8. After the long hours of hard work, honor band was very successful and gave out a great show to the audience. Friends, family, classmates, teachers, conductors, and alumni from past honor bands all were seen in the seats. It was truly spectacular to be a part of.
