PAL Center has treats all October

This is one of many things happening at the PAL Center in October.

There is a lot to cele-boo-rate at PAL this October and we hopw you will help us spread the word.  Some highlights for October include:

BONE appetite!  PAL members can join us online Mondays for our online cooking school, Cooking with Cans, to learn how to make some killer Halloween inspired treats and dishes!  Stay plugged in and join us for a month of BOO Bingo games and more fun!

We will be putting the scream in S.T.E.A.M. this month at the G.P.A. Boot Camp with lots of spooky science games and workshops.  Members will learn more about the skeletal system, how elastic energy is converted into kinetic energy, study tips to improve memorization, and reading comprehension.

Halloween gives us a chance to step out of our comfort zone and do something different so it a great time to see which SHARK TANK team is the FRIGHT fit for you!  Join the PAL Shark Tank and work with other teens to develop a community service project to improve our community. Pitch it to our “sharks” and one will be selected for funding.  Building on things they care about, members will identify challenges and creatively develop ways to address them.  They’ll will build their entrepreneurial identity and agency as they engage in problem solving to address community-based issues that are meaningful to them.

Where our ghouls at? Because we start a new Girls’ Circle this month! The Girls’ Circle model integrates relational theory, resiliency practices, and skills training in a specific format designed to increase positive connection, personal and collective strengths, and competence in girls.  This circle will explore BEING A GIRL and continue for eight weeks.  This circle introduces girls to the positive experience of a support circle addressing topics such as “Growing Up Female,” “Growth and Self-Care,” and “Female Role Models.” Activities include collage, affirmations, and theme-related crafts.   Girls’ Circle is made possible with support from Soroptimist International of Central Solano County.

Pumpkins on the Patio—join us when we level up our pumpkin decorating!  Members will visit different stations to learn how to ditch the pumpkin carving entirely and create stunning painted pumpkins!

FEARFILLED Prep School Tours!  Our pal’s from sKREAMZ are back will an all new haunt to raise funds for the PAL Career Café on Fridays, Saturdays, and Halloween this October. We may be missing half of everyone’s faces because of masks—but the eyes never lie.  Come experience our school spirits for yourself…..

RETURNING SOON!  PAL Boxing and Kajukenbo are returning soon to the schedule.   Boxing and marital arts training improves coordination, enhances stress management, develop decision making skills and has a low number of serious injuries when compared to other contract sports.  To ensure proper COVID protocols are followed, members must sign up for a training session in advance.  For more information, please call 422-6288.
