Free Slurpees, but get in line
National 7-Eleven Day – July 11
National 7- Eleven Day is conveniently scheduled on 7-11 (July 11) of each year. The day often features one of their signature items: the Slurpee. The day focuses on franchise customers.
On National 7-Eleven Day, the chain offers discounts and often free Slurpees in their many flavors, although those were unavailable in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Originally called Tote’m Stores, 7- Eleven is about 94 years old first founded in in Dallas, Texas in 1927 by Joe C. Thompson. It was the first convenience store to stay open 24 hours, but it earned its current name in 1946 because of its original hours, from 7 am to 11 pm.
“7-Eleven is home to a number of notable worldwide firsts. Not only was it the first convenience store to stay open 24 hours, it was also the first convenience store to sell gas, as well as the first such store to offer ATM services to its customers” (Cheapism.com).
There are several 7-Eleven stores throughout Solano, with the newest one opening soon across the street from the Walmart in Suisun. Even if you can’t drive, you can probably find a free Slurpee on National 7-Eleven Day within walking distance.
