The last addition to the CSUs
College focus – CSU Channel Islands
There are 23 different campuses in the California State University (CSU) system, and the last one to be added to that impressive collection was CSU Channel Islands (CSUCI).
This beautiful campus is located in Camarillo and is home to about 6,000 undergraduates. Camarillo is the midpoint between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles and is near Malibu and other beaches so, with such a beautiful location, it can be tempting to skip class and enjoy the beach or one of the other activities held nearby.
The school and its building have been featured in many television, film, and music video productions such as The X Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and N’Sync videos, but while it is a popular filming spot, it is also a strongly academic school.
The institution’s objectives focus on the Four Pillars of community engagement, integrative, international, and multicultural. CSUCI offers more than 30 academic programs, giving students the opportunity to obtain a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
The school accepts 79% of its applicants and its popular majors include psychology, business, and health service.
In the 2021 edition of US News’ Best Colleges, CSUCI was ranked #43 in Regional Universities West. It tied with CSU Sacramento and The Evergreen State College in Washington.
