National Cartoonists’ Day – May 5
Have you ever wondered who was behind creating your favorite cartoon? Every year on May 5 is National Cartoonists’ Day where we get to honor all those who have put their time into creating the best cartoon animations of all time that we all love – Charles Schultz (Peanuts),
National Cartoonists’ Day was inspired by the very first strip of cartoons posted on the newspaper by a man named Richard F. Outcault on May 5, 1895. He created a character called The Yellow Kid, and ever since, many people have celebrated those whose passion is to create our favorite cartoon / cartoon character.
You don’t have to wait until August 14, which happens to be Free Comic Book Day, to celebrate the artists who make us laugh, but also make us think. According to Nonstopcelebrations.com, you can sit back and watch your favorite cartoon movie or TV show over and over again, or visit a local bookstore, like Barnes and Noble, and pick up a few comic books and read them in your free time. Or maybe you just want to open a real newspaper and read over their daily contributions to the genre. Maybe you want to try your hand at creating a cartoon on your own. The choice is up to you.
