Craftsmanship takes precision, love
National Handmade Day – April 3
A lot of the products that we own and use typically involve machines and automation down in their production line, but many neatly-made pieces of craft out there are done completely by hand. This April 3, on the first Saturday of the month, National Handmade Day commemorates all the craftspeople that put their self-made creations out for the world to see and enjoy.
Businesses that partake in the more traditional process of handmaking give themselves, and their products, a sense of uniqueness where they can intimately incorporate the aspect of trademarking into the goods they produce. This art of handmaking takes skill, some of which is passed down as family tradition from generation to generation, while others dedicate time and effort into learning, perfecting, and getting into their trade.
What makes handcrafted goods all the more special is that behind every one of them is a person dedicating his or her talents and passion into the work, all in a world where machines have become more preferable for their mass production and efficiency.
A great way we can celebrate this holiday is by stopping at a local store that sells handmade items and seeing what they have to offer, or visit a Community Craft Fair like this one in Sacramento.M
As a fitting alternative during these times, it’s also great to check their online shops and support the local businesses through there. You can even order a custom-made piece to make your purchase even more special, and a spread of word is never not appreciated.
Whether it be baked goods and beauty products, jewelry and accessories, or furniture and artwork, it’s always worthwhile to appreciate the passion-filled products that our artisans fashion out by hand.
