On top of her game
“I love basketball. I love the game and the feeling.” La’Nea Wallace is a dynamic, energetic member who has just begun her second year on the Armijo Junior Varsity girl’s basketball team. Basketball has always been an important part in Wallace’s life. “I played a lot growing up. I always watched it and I play it with my friends,” Wallace said.
Wallace began playing basketball in her eighth grade. Through her high school years, basketball has shared a spirit of teamwork with Wallace. When asked about her experiences in the team, Wallace said, “It’s fun, everyone has been learning new things, especially the new players. I like to help them out.”
Outside of basketball, Wallace enjoys spending time with her friends and practicing other sports. Wallace Though basketball is an important part of Wallace’s life, she makes time for succeeding in academics, “I believing in working hard for what I want. I want to get a scholarship and go into college,” Wallace said. The discipline and dedication of the sport shines through in Wallace’s everyday life. “Basketball has taught me to communicate and how to help people out,” she said.
