Abuse and neglect can be stopped
National Horse Protection Day – March 1
A lot of animals in this world just get abandoned, sometimes by their owner’s negligence and sometimes through other mishaps. For horses, there is a day to focus on this tragedy. When horses are abandoned or mistreated, they are often used for food or abused in other ways, and pet lifestyle expert and animal behaviorist Colleen Page wanted to bring people’s awareness to this activity (https://rb.gy/ujusce).
Since 2005, March 1 has been identified as National Horse Protection Day, a time where the thousands of unwanted horses around the country are given a focused effort to save their lives and find them a forever loving home. National Horse Protection Day was founded by Page.
Horses are among the most versatile animals on the farm as far as their purpose. They can provide transportation directly or pulling carts, they can help with herding cattle and they can keep grazing land healthy. But they are also so much more.
Horses also help children with disabilities such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) because the animals are very emotional and offer their friendship to those they connect with.
According to nationalday.com, horses also have a legendary status in our country, but many of them become neglected, abandoned, or abused. Several organizations and individuals around the country do to help support horse rescue , rehabilitation and adoption.
There are many ways one can help these horses without having to adopt. You can donate to a charity to help with their rehabilitation or even maybe volunteer. Many of the charities are listed at gohorse.com (https://rb.gy/mrm0ud). Locally, students might want to help at Rush Ranch, like Sean Cassidy-Burgess (https://rb.gy/ye8e1i).
