Start the month by getting up
National Get Up Day – February 1
National Get Up Day, which is celebrated on February 1, is a campaign launched by US Figure Skating to encourage and support individuals, whether they are skaters, gymnasts, tennis players, students or parents, to face life’s challenges by picking themselves back up and giving it another try to overcome and ultimately succeed.
The US Figure Skating organization is deeply involved with this day since the campaign was introduced about five years ago. They want people to realize the grit and determination figure skaters have and share that strength with others.
Sports Travel Magazine explained that the first lesson in skating is how to fall down, and more importantly, how to get back up again, a lesson that participants can apply across to all aspects of life (https://rb.gy/osb19v).
National Get Up Day was established to provide a platform to celebrate stories of overcomers in communities around the country.
To celebrate the day, the U.S. Figure Skating organization is encouraging participants to start a conversation about what the theme of the day means, spread the word to friends, family members, co-workers and social media followers and use #WeGetUp in social media posts.
