What do you see when you think of Science Fiction?

Doctor Who, The Avengers, The Time Machine and Back to the Future – these books, television shows and movies have one thing in common. They are all the same genre: Science Fiction.

It is in Science Fiction that the ideas of wormholes, aliens and time travel exist. Each fanciful story begins with imagination and an idea, and that idea turns into a thought that makes a plot for a book or a video project. National Science Fiction Day, January 2, celebrates this genre in all of its forms, according to http://tiny.cc/SciFiDay.

There are many activities to do during this day, like binge watch your favorite sci-fi shows, read a classic sci-fi story or dress up like some of your favorite characters. National Science Fiction Day also shows how sci-fi can make an impact in our lives.

Our imaginations are used very little in the real world, with so much provided for us and so much science fact that naturally impacts us, but National Science Fiction Day reminds us of the power of imagination. In Star Trek, for instance, light speed is possible but in the real world, it has yet to be traveled, but someday, traveling at the speed of light might be a real thing. Science Fiction lets us see it before it is a reality

Like Marie Curie said, “Imagination is the only key to the future” and National Science Fiction Day allows us to see the potential future today.
