Dagon dealing with Senior Year during this Pandemic
Dagon Daos has been attending Armijo High School since his freshman year when he was involved in Lettuce Grow, the Gardening Club and helped with the mulch that developed the garden. “It was fun to do with other students,” he said. While being part of the club was a fun experience, being in the classroom has been something that he has missed. While many of his interests can be pursued during the pandemic, it has had an impact on his education. “The pandemic impacted my school work as I liked to go into class and learn in person rather than online,” he said. “I thought that senior year was going to be a great year as it would be my last year.”
Daos’s favorite class over the years has been wood shop, “It was my favorite class and a good way to start off school. I liked making things in that class. Before we had online classes, I was working on a wooden car.” His senior year has been a challenge, but he said that he really enjoyed his junior year. “I don’t think there was a day that I didn’t laugh or smile,” he said. “I was always enjoying my conversations with my friends and that year was the year I started hanging out with friends after school.” That was also the year he participated in Karaoke Night. As a high school senior, the future is important, but Daos is not too concerned. “I don’t have a real plan after High School, but I am planning to go to Solano and figure out the career path I would want to take,” he said. While he doesn’t know what he will be doing in five years, he did say that he hopes he is still making others smile and laugh.
While he has created some memories over the years, much of what makes him happy are things that won’t be left behind in June. He likes sports, but he didn’t try out for any teams while he was a student. “I thought I wouldn’t be good enough and I didn’t want to embarrass myself,” he said. “I also like art painting, sketching, sculpting, and music. I know basic robotics, and computer skills, and I can play Ukulele, Guitar, and Piano…I like to play video games with my friends,” he said. “I don’t usually play video games by myself. I also enjoy reading Marvel Comics, and watching Disney movies.”
