French hens? Calling birds? How many can you find?

Anybody can join in the Christmas Bird Count.

Christmas Bird Count Week is a tradition over a century old. It is celebrated by bird watchers everywhere and became a positive experience for the participants and the birds when, in 1900, a birdwatcher by the name of Frank Chapman suggested an alternative to the former celebration of hunting and killing the most birds within a time period.

Now, from December 14 to January 5, people go bird watching and record their bird sightings. Annually, there have been over 54.4 million sightings logged. If you’d like to register to add to that count, visit https://www.audubon.org/conservation/join-christmas-bird-count and sign-up to participate.
