Roof over Your Head Day – December 3
Roof over Your Head Day is on December 3. It is a day set aside to be thankful for what we have and to remind us not to take things for granted.
The best way to recognize our blessings is to share them. As the holidays are approaching, there are many ways to celebrate. Some people might choose to sign up to volunteer to serve a holiday meal or collect canned foods for others. Selecting a name from a Christmas Giving Tree or contacting someone who is lonely during the season can be ways to make someone else’s day better while recognizing what we have.
Volunteering at or donating to a homeless shelter, like Shelter Inc. at 310 Beck Avenue in Fairfield or Opportunity House at 267 Bennett Hill Court in Vacaville, can make us appreciate the roof we have over our own homes.
There are over 150,000 homeless people in California, according to www.calmatters.org, and those who are not in that number have many reasons to celebrate Roof over Your Head Day, so be sure to put #RoofOverYourHeadDay on your social media to help spread the word.
