Small Business Saturday – November 28
Small Business Saturday is November 28. It is celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Small Business Saturday was founded by American Express in 2010 and, after Black Friday’s popular shopping tradition, it is a day designed to encourage shopping at local businesses, which is especially important at this time.
The first time this holiday was celebrated was on November 27, 2010.It is important because it provides important income for smaller companies that provide employment for many local residents. Because they are local companies, small businesses often have a more personal relationship with their customers and Small Business Saturday is a chance to show gratitude for them.
Those personal relationships are important so participants are encouraged to give a shout out to their favorite business on social media, or offer a “thank you” to the employees and managers as they shop on this specific day.
