Orange is the color to say you care about CRPS.

Color the World Orange Day is an annual global event held the first Monday of November to spread awareness of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). This year, that day takes place on November 2.

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (CRPS) involves high levels of nerve impulses sent to an affected site in the body. Medical experts think the condition is a result of a dysfunction in the central or peripheral nervous system, according to my.clevelandclinic.org. Symptoms vary in intensity and usually occur more in women than men. They include stiff and swollen joints, decreased mobility, changes in hair and nail growth and skin changes. Pain can be intense or worsen over time.

Currently, there is no specific test or cure for CRPS, but treatment focuses on pain relief, physical therapy, and psychotherapy.

To help spread awareness, people can wear orange and post a picture to social media with the hashtag #CRPSORANGEDAY. Those who want to make a more personal impact can hand out orange ribbons, change their social media profiles to a Color the World Orange logo, or ask friends and family to get involved by spreading awareness with posters or handing out orange items such as flyers and pins.
