Celebrate National Role Models Month with your role models
November is National Role Models Month. According to the National Day Calendar, National Role Models Month was created by a chief communications specialist by the name of Darlene House in 2005.
During National Role Models Month, participants are meant to either identify a role model or acknowledge the ones they have. Admitting that someone is a role model can help that person with increased self-esteem or greatly encourage them. Having a good and healthy role model oneself can inspire a person. That’s what a role model is for, after all.
Looking at a person and admiring his or her healthy habits, taking notes of what is important about that person can be helpful. People can acknowledge their role models and share how that person has changed his or her life in a positive way and want the same outcomes.
A role model can motivate people and help them get through tough times, but one should be careful picking a role model because role models can influence one’s ethics and morals in positive and negative ways.
One should also be wary to not mimic his or her role models in every way. Instead, it should be an opportunity to admire the positive attributes of a person while still being an individual.
