A device whose time has come… and gone
iPod Day – October 23
What’s your perspective on iPods? Do you think they’re lame and outdated? Well, there was a time when almost everybody had one. Everyone would play music on their iPod shuffle or whatever generation they had. I know you remember the days. iPod Day is October 23, because on this day in 2001, Apple launched the mp3 giant, better known as the iPod.
The last iPod was released online on July 15, 2015, with upgrades to the Nano and iPod Shuffle. On May 28, 2019, the iPod touch 6th generation was discounted by Apple with the release of the iPod Touch Generation 7. Since these iPods were discounted, you can’t get them from Apple. The only one they sell now is the version released May 28, 2019. Apple has made and sold over 400 million iPods. I’m sure there are some people who like the old school vibe and kept their iPod’s and maybe even still use them today.
The iPod Touch goes beyond just music. It features two cameras, wireless networking, email and web browsing, and the ability to download apps from the app store. People generally agree that one of the worst problems with the iPod was that, when the fifth generation dropped, the camera was protruding because of how thin it was.
The iPod was made by Apple and Steve Jobs. It was a great invention for its time.
