Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!
World Animal Day – October 4
On October 4, a very special day is celebrated: World Animal Day. This is a day where the world focuses on animals who are in danger or suffering through natural or manmade causes.
Around the world many animals suffer from abuse and or are killed illegally. Illegal hunting impacts the animal community in a negative way and World Animal Day is an opportunity to bring more awareness to that treatment.
Animal abuse also contributes to the negative impact of humans on innocent animals. Abuse may include things like testing, neglect, and abandonment. Animal lovers all around the world seek to put an end to these types of abuse. They want to change the attitude of those abusers and make others aware of the abuse so that they can join the cause.
Many who celebrate this day belong to animal welfare organizations. They address the health, safety, and physiological wellness of animals. On World Animal Day, animal rights groups host many events around the globe including Pet Adoption Day, Spay and Neuter marathons, and Rabies Awareness and Prevention Day. They encourage animal lovers to participate in these events. Can you encourage those around you to help change and be kinder to animals?
