Kindness is always in fashion
National Do Something Nice Day – October 5
When we live busy lives, it’s easy to get caught up on the negatives we may encounter throughout the day. So this October 5, we should remind ourselves that doing something nice can get us caught up on the more positive side of things instead.
National Do Something Nice Day encourages performing any acts of kindness— be it for strangers, loved ones, or even yourself. Doing something nice, whether it is a small gesture or something you went out of your way to do, matters in every aspect; no act of kindness is ever wasted.
While it costs nothing to be nice, our good deeds are repaid when we see how our actions might have been the cause of someone else’s happiness. Ways we can make our and other people’s day:
- Giving a compliment.
- Offering to do the chores.
- Volunteering at your local community.
- Donating to a cause.
- Leaving a nice comment on someone’s post.
- Tipping more than you usually would.
- Messaging a friend you haven’t talked to in a while.
- Calling a relative just to ask how they’re doing.
- Lending an ear to someone having a bad day.
- Treating yourself.
We may not always be aware, but our actions have the power to affect more than we know. Something as small as smiling at a stranger passing by could be as uplifting to you as it is to them. When we do something nice, it encourages others to do the same. So be the first one to start this chain of kindness and positivity.
