Local business offers quality meals during this pandemic
Restaurant Review
In trying times such as these, it has been rough for local business owners, and supporting them has become more important as ever. Most small businesses don’t have the same funding as most major businesses do, so giving a helping hand to a local restaurant, just by enjoying a meal there, is a big help. El Pitayo is one of those restaurants worth supporting.
El Pitayo, located at 2982 Rockville Road in Fairfield, is a family owned Mexican restaurant established in 2016 by Angelica Barron (Daily Republic), and she prides herself on delivering delicious, authentic Mexican food to the customers. A mother of 4, Barron originally came here to offer a better life for her kids, and is now sharing the foods she originally made for them with the people of Fairfield. The reviews for the restaurant are positively glowing and many reviewers are quick to comment on how great the atmosphere and food is.
I knew that I had to try this place. Right off the bat, the location was pretty noticeable. Despite being on the backroads, it wasn’t too far to be out of the way. It surely caught my attention with its bright orange exterior to distinguish the place.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, I wasn’t allowed to sit down for a meal, but rest assured, El Pitayo provides both takeout and delivery, allowing customers to order at their convenience.
One benefit is that they have a vast menu to choose from, including familiar dishes like burritos and tacos. I decided to try the Milaneza de Pollo, a dish consisting of breaded chicken breast, beans, rice, and tortillas, with a small side salad. It was certainly a big portion! I wasn’t even able to finish it in a single seating and, on top of that, it looked so good I forgot to take a picture before digging right in.
I usually find myself to be a pretty picky eater so luckily this dish isn’t too complex and in the end it was overall a great experience. I was able to enjoy it the next day and would definitely go back. There were many additional reasons to do so, too, such as delicious desserts, a wide variety of meals to enjoy, and a personal favorite: breakfast burritos.
In the end, I hope that COVID-19 ends soon enough to allow me to enjoy a meal in the unique atmosphere of the establishment itself.
Overall, I recommend El Pitayo, a great source for authentic Mexican food. While their prices may seem a little steep, the big portions make up for it. Not only will you enjoy the meal, but you can do your part to support one of many local small businesses.
