IT professionals don’t clown around
National IT Professionals Day – September 15
The Information Technology (IT) department is in charge of maintaining a company’s computers and their software. IT technicians set up new stations, install hardware and software, provide tech support, and troubleshoot customers’ tech issues. Put frankly, they know computers, and they know how to deal with people who don’t. That in itself is pretty deserving of an entire day dedicated to the profession.
National IT Professionals Day, observed on September 15, was established in 2015. The story goes that some IT staff members at the SolarWinds company in Texas felt under-appreciated in their field, so, after a poll from the business employees showed that that was, in fact, true, they had the day officiated in the National Day calendar.
If you’re like me, and didn’t know this holiday existed, this is probably a stellar time to celebrate it. Due to the whole distance learning thing where our reliance on our little Chromebooks and home WiFi are more important than ever, a little thanks can go a long way to express our gratitude for having things run as smoothly as they can. So, to the tech professional overseeing that all this works at all, thank you.
