Animals are our friends – how well do we treat them?
National Wildlife Day – September 4.
National Wildlife Day is a national day that occurs on September 4. This day is about raising awareness to the community about nature and the environment. Our environment may be safe for humans and domestic pets, but what about wild animals and plants? Are they too not living things? This day is about raising awareness to the animal and plant species around us.
Imagine if you were an animal in our community and your home was in the forest. Then, imagine someone tearing down your tree just for their own benefit. If you can imagine this, you can understand why we should care about wildlife. We have invaded their homes and we need to realize that it is unfair to them.
Even if the animals aren’t comfortable, don’t we have the right to comfort? Of course we do! It is important that we realize that we can be comfortable with consideration. As a community, we can help each other but continue to make this a better place for wildlife.
There are several easy ways that people can honor wildlife on National Wildlife Day and throughout the year. We can recycle plastic, participate in park clean ups, and try not to pick flowers. Even making simple choices, like putting trash in the appropriate places and not littering, can have positive influences on wildlife and its habitat.
National Wildlife Day is about raising awareness, and if you read this article, you are on your way to recognizing the day. Are you willing to do your part?
