Save money while helping others
National Thrift Shop Day – August 17
Looking for a win-win situation? Check out some of the local thrift shops and you can discover ways to save money and help some nonprofits. Or donate some of those items you found during the Shelter-in-Place and help support those same organizations.
Why is this important? Because there is no better way to celebrate National Thrift Shop Day on August 17. Last minute styles for school are waiting on the racks at Goodwill (https://eastbaygoodwill.org/), Opportunity House (https://opportunityhouse.us/) and Savers (https://tinyurl.com/Savers-Vacaville). It might mean that you have to look a little harder, but it will also mean that your unique style can shine through.
What about looking in the local charity shops to find a way to make your bedroom into a Distance Learning showcase? Find decorations that will make people pause when they see into your personal haven during Google Meets.
Thrift shops have more than clothes and décor. They also have a variety of entertainment products. Do you still have a VCR player or a DVD player? You might be able to find a tape or disc that you passed up when they were first out, but now you can get them at a super low price. Maybe you’ll find the perfect book or a cute container for treats or school supplies.
Maybe you haven’t frequented thrift shops before, but this could be a new adventure for you. You could go with friends on National Thrift Shop Day and each see how much you can get for $5. But be careful. Searching for treasure and saving money can be addicting.
