Phase 1 scheduled through October 16
Dear FSUSD Families,
Thank you for your patience as we have gathered information and developed plans for the 2020-2021 school year. We are committed to the safety of our students and staff, and we are determined to provide the best possible education for our students in every learning mode we are in. We call these learning modes Phases, and more information can be found about our Phases here.
On Monday, July 20, our Governing Board determined that our district will begin in Phase 1 on August 19, 2020. This decision was primarily influenced by the announcements made by Governor Newsom on Friday, July 17. His new guidelines mandate that schools located in counties on California’s Monitoring List must be closed for in-person instruction until their county has been off of the Monitoring List for 14 consecutive days. Solano County is currently on the Monitoring List and expects to remain on the list for an extended period of time.
We will stay in Phase 1 until October 16, 2020. On October 8, 2020, the Governing Board will have an opportunity to review the latest information and determine whether or not to change the phase that we are in.
Please know that we are working hard to make our programs as robust as possible. While in-person learning is preferable in many ways to distance learning, our district is uniquely positioned to deliver an outstanding learning experience remotely.
