#1 for seven weeks – find out why!
Me Before You, by Jojo Moyes, is a fictional romance about a young lady, Louisa Clark, who is hired as a caregiver for a Will, a young man who had been severely injured by a motorcycle accident. Will’s injury depressed him severely and his parents agreed to hire Louisa to care for him and provide him with all the assistance he needs.
At first, Will wants nothing to do with her and he refuses everything but the very basics that Louisa can offer. She, on the other hand, decides that she wants to give him a reason to live, in spite of the challenges to do just that.
Me Before You gives the reader a sentimental perspective on romance. As I was reading this novel, it was quite difficult not to connect with and understand each of the characters. Throughout the novel, Louisa and Will go through many ups and downs, but she always makes her choices with the intention to motivate Will to make an effort and put the past behind him. Regardless of how hard she tried to encourage Will to be a better person day by day, she still respects his decisions.
This is a fascinating and touching story that I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to escape into a heartwarming novel. It was #1 on the New York Times list of Best Selling novels for seven weeks in 2016, but it is never too late to find out why.
