A week to focus on Kindness

The list is endless – what will you do this week to promote Kindness?

National Random Acts of Kindness Week (February 16 – 23)  is wholesome time to spread positivity to friends, family, and even strangers. A simple act is all it takes to brighten someone’s day. Giving a compliment or doing a big chore for someone can help them to have a stress free day. “Treat people the way you want to be treated. If someone looks like they need help, help them. If people ask for help, help them. You should respect people and what they say,” said Faustina Wang.

This National Day was created in Denver, Colorado in 1995 and spread to New Zealand nine years later in 2004. It wasn’t celebrated as a weeklong celebration until 2018.

The idea behind it is simply to make the world a better, more positive place. According to ̈Days of the Year, “Research has shown that the very act of doing something for someone else gives us a chemical high, a higher one, in fact, than if something had been done for us.” Just another reason to participate in one of the most giving times of the year.

“I think kindness is important because it’s something that’s simple to do every day,” said Jessica Dang. “I just help people with whatever they need when I see people in need I just help them.”

̈Treat people the way you want to be treated. If someone looks like they need help, help them.
