Varsity Boys’ Soccer struggles, JV comes in with a victory
Var: 0-2 Loss (5-2-1) still holding onto first…barely
Jv: 2-1 win (3-3-2)
Varsity: The Royals were definitely hurting the night of the February 7 game against Rodriguez. They were playing without two of their starting forwards and the boys just couldn’t hold off the Mustangs in the end. The score was 0-0 at half and Royals couldn’t get their heads in the game for the second half. Rodriguez was able to get one through off a corner about 20 minutes into the second half and then got another one past Armijo with 10 minutes left in the game. With a full squad back for the game on February 10 against Vanden, Armijo is hopingto secure the first place position.
JV: It was a solid game for the junior varsity (JV) Royals with a beautiful kick 10 minutes in from Gio Zarate outside the 25-yard line that went straight in over the keeper in the far end of the goal. The Armijo boys held strong and came back into the 2nd half and got another goal within the first 10 minutes by Alejandro Godinez. Rodriguez was able to sink one in about 10 minutes after, but were held off from scoring anymore for the rest of the second half.
