Nova Miller’s releases her first single
Nova Miller is an 18-year old singer Swedish pop singer / songwriter. She has spent most of her life on stage or in the studio and she wouldnt have it any other way. She has a sound that blends new school pop and vintage aesthetics. Miller’s debut single, Do It Myself, is about recognizing toxic behavior. Even though it is her first single, her music video has already gotten over 232k views. The song might be sending a message like it is “dark,” but she wants her musical purpose to be positive; she is determined to be “anti emo.” Do It Myself starts off as a guitar driven retro bop, but its really about the worst form of going crazy.
The track features the Mama’s and Papas sample California Dreamin’ and is produced by The Monsters and The Strangerz, the production team behind Zedd’s Middle, featuring Maren Morris, Grey, Ariana Grande. My favorite part of the song is when Miller says, “When it comes to love, I overthink everything too much.” I feel like I can kind of relate to that. I tend to overthink things, especially when it comes to relationships. I feel like a lot of women in this world can also relate to what she’s saying. “It’s pretty cool,” said Lily Baxter. “Just not my style…I like the beginning and how the guitar made her voice sound soft and I didn’t like the do it myself part because it took away from the song.”
