Sydney finds wrestling a good way to socialize
Sydney Dufault wrestles to hang out with friends and have a fun time. Her least favorite part about the sport is cutting weight. “Being on the wrestling team is fun, sometimes it sucks,” said Dufault. “It sucks sometimes, because you can’t eat to make your weight.” Despite this she continues wrestling and she likes how the coaches make her push herself.
Wrestling is different from other sports, because it requires a lot more discipline and self-control. It has shown her that there is always someone there for you, like your teammates. Wrestling has helped her stay on a good path and everyone on the team encourages her to keep her grades up.
The main person in her life that inspires her is her dad. He has always been there for her, no matter what. Dufault’s main goal for this season is “not to win. I want to have fun and enjoy my last year,” she said. “It’s not about winning.” Looking even further into the future, Dufault plans on joining the army after high school and she is considering doing a sports program when she joins. This program is for athletes in the army. One of the best moments of her high school wrestling career was taking first at the No Guts No Glory tournament, where she had some really tough matches. Lastly, Dufault would like to shout-out Dyanna Gutierrez!
