All in a name: Hidden Hope
If you look at the names around Armijo’s campus, you might be discouraged and feeling a little Hope-less, but while there are no students who have that as a first name, there are two who share the name as a middle name, Bianca Gutierrez and Ziare Austin.
Gutierrez and Austin were unaware of the bond they share, but they do share some other things. Both girls have part-time jobs. Gutierrez works at Dicks Sporting Goods and Austin also has a job. Neither girl would want to change her middle name. “At first my middle name was going to be Esperanza,” said Gutierrez, “but my Dad didn’t like that so my Tia said, ‘Oh, let’s just give her the middle name Hope.’”
Austin shares her middle name with her mother and her parents gave it to her because it means something. Her full middle name is Unique-Hope.
While they have some things in common, they are also very different. Gutierrez is a junior who spends her time doing school work, working and sleeping. She said that her secret talent is that she can make her ear move.
Austin, on the other hand, is a senior who Ziare likes to do is research stuff and look up new things. Her future plan is to become a dermatologist.
So, when you are looking for some Hope this year, remember that there is more here than meets the eye
